Hydration is the unsung hero for healthy skin. Drinking 2-3L of water per day can do the skin wonders. We know, it seems like a lot. Our fav hack? Adding lemons, cucumbers or mint to zest it up to hit that intake goal. Herbal (caffeine-free) teas throughout the day works too!

#2 Diet - the good and the baddies

Food impacts every facet of your health, and skin is no exception. Whole foods: YAY 👍…Processed foods and alcohol: 🙅‍♀️⚠️ these impact the appearance of your skin so moderation is best. Plus, there are a few foods known to actually cause acne… including:

Dairy

The proteins in milk (whey and casein), trigger the release of IGF-1 (a hormone similar to insulin), which is known to trigger acne breakouts. Milk also contains testosterone precursors, which can worsen acne. Boo. Moo.

Sugar

Sugar increases androgens (a type of hormone) and inflammation, which both play a role in the development of acne. We know, it’s bittersweet 😭

Food Intolerances
